Dr. Barbara Wrightson
Founder and Principal Consultant
My journey in the field of education started as an English teacher in post communist Slovakia in the 1990's. Since that time, I have had the joy of working with students and faculty on five different continents.I love learning and am passionate about supporting others - be it students, parents, or educators - with their own learning processes.
Because learning is always a journey, I see the role of the educational consultant as a partnership along this journey. I greatly enjoy "walking" alongside educators and schools as they move through the days, weeks, months, and years of organizational growth, evolution, and change.
We are always learning more about how human beings learn. As we take in new research, practice, and experimentation in the field of education, we know how to better support students with their own learning journeys. It is my endearment to these processes of change that drive me to support educators, families, and learning organizations in the best ways that I can.
Bio
Spanning more than 26 years in the field of education, Dr. Wrightson's career has encompassed a myriad of roles in PK-12 schooling:
- teacher (of multiple secondary subjects)
- Department Chair
- Curriculum Coordinator
- Secondary Administrator
- Whole School Administrator
Additionally, Barbara teaches teachers at the tertiary level and works with educators via her various roles in the IB's Educator Network (consultant, workshop leader, school visitor, etc.). She has designed extensive curriculum for adult education venues and has also delivered countless courses, workshops, and trainings.
Throughout her many years in the field of education, Dr. Wrightson has gained a wealth of knowledge, experience, and education about education and has developed a talent for engaging in the intricate - and interesting - processes of lifelong learning. She is an expert in the areas of curriculum development, organizational change, and mentoring/coaching of school leaders who devote their time and energy to the long haul of curriculum development and strategic planning.
